PITTSBURGH (October 23, 2025) -- Forge, a leading provider of digital, print, and fulfillment solutions, today celebrated the grand opening of its new 82,500 sq ft facility on Neville Island in Pittsburgh, PA, marking a major milestone in the area’s revitalization and a boost for local job creation. Forge is the first new tenant to occupy the site in a decade, underscoring its commitment to growth and community investment.
The Neville Island property, owned and redeveloped by Elmhurst group, occupies a site with a rich industrial history – including prior use as a WWII boat-making facility and an oil refinery – into a modern, high-performance industrial park. Forge invested $3.5 million to build out the interior of the facility, creating a state-of-the-art inventory and fulfillment center.
This investment underscores Forge's dedication to the region’s economic revival and local workforce development. In partnership with its parent company, Highmark Health subsidiary enGen, Forge also made a donation to the Neville Island Volunteer Fire Department, supporting the vital services that protect the community and its residents.
The facility will primarily support pick and pack services, inventory management, and open enrollment kit fulfillment. Forge anticipates adding 4-5 new full-time employees and 20-50 seasonal contract workers as operations scale through early 2026.
Beyond Neville Island, this investment paves the way for Forge’s continued growth, including a $3 million build-out at its Beaver Ave facility, scheduled to begin in Q1 2026. The project will transform existing warehouse space into a state-of-the-art production manufacturing area, supplied with inventory from Neville Island, expected to generate 20-30 new jobs.
As part of this expansion, Forge and enGen are partnering with the Will Allen Foundation to launch the Blueprint for Success program — a paid, 12-month apprenticeship program for graduating high school seniors in under-resourced local communities. The program offers on-the-job learning, professional development, and mentorship, preparing participants for full-time employment as Associate Print Shop Operators at Forge’s Beaver Avenue facility.
"This new facility is more than just an expansion of our operations; it's an investment in the future of the Pittsburgh region," said Jason Fonner, VP of Print Operations at Forge. "Through our partnership with the Will Allen Foundation, we’re helping young adults gain real skills, launch meaningful careers, and build a stronger local workforce — while continuing to grow our business and give back to the community.”
“The Blueprint for Success program is about giving young people the chance to learn, grow, and build confidence through real-world experience,” said Will Allen, founder of the Will Allen Foundation. “Partnering with Forge and enGen allows us to create meaningful, sustainable career pathways right here in Pittsburgh — especially for students who may not see college as an option.”
